Client Case Study: Delbrook Community Centre, North Vancouver

In recent weeks, public facilities like restaurants, bars, movie theatres and rec centers have introduced vaccine mandates to help control the spread of COVID-19. The administration of these policies has provided a challenge for many organizations, with untrained staff forced to potentially deal with aggressive individuals who aren’t shy in sharing their opinions on public health policy.

Security companies like Blackbird Security provide a safer alternative. Alongside their comprehensive training, our team have been on the frontlines of COVID-19 policy enforcement since the start of the pandemic. Initially, this involved enforcement in areas like social distancing and mask wearing but in recent months, our team have become skilled facilitators of mandatory vaccine policies. In today’s blog, we wanted to highlight the exemplary work our security guards are performing to protect the public at a community rec centre in North Vancouver.

COVID-19 Vaccine Check

Delbrook Community Centre, North Vancouver

Set against a picturesque mountain backdrop on the North Shore, Delbrook Community Centre is a valuable community hub, where people of all ages come together to hang out, work out, and take group classes. Like other recreation centres in British Columbia, Delbrook brought in a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy in early September, in accordance with a public health order from BC’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry. Delbrook’s management contacted Blackbird Security to see if our team could help administer their vaccine policy. It was our pleasure to provide this important service.

COVID-19 Vaccine Enforcement at Delbrook – How Blackbird Helps

In British Columbia, the BC Vaccine Card is the only accepted form of proof of vaccination. Anyone looking to enter the recreation centre must produce their BC Vaccine Card QR code on their phone, alongside a government issued identification card.

Our team is stationed at the door of the facility, checking these documents and handling any issues far from the everyday work of Delbrook’s in-house team. Each of the guards stationed at the rec centre receives comprehensive customer service training that enables them to act as a helpful front of house ambassador for the facility.

This approach to customer service and safety has seen us partner with several other City of North Vancouver facilities and community centres to administer their COVID-19 vaccine policies.
