Blackbird Security Celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day with Meaningful Actions

At Blackbird Security, we believe that Reconciliation is more than just words—it requires action. This National Indigenous Peoples Day, we are proud to highlight the steps we have taken to support Indigenous communities and foster inclusivity within the security industry.

Supporting Reconciliation through Action

In our commitment to making a tangible difference, Blackbird Security has undertaken several initiatives:

  • Donating Security Services to the Circles for Reconciliation Event
  • We provided our security services free of charge to the Circles for Reconciliation event. This organization brings Indigenous and non-Indigenous people together in respectful dialogue to promote understanding and reconciliation.

  • Launching a Bursary Program in Manitoba
  • We are excited to announce a new bursary program for Indigenous individuals in Manitoba who are interested in entering the security industry. This initiative aims to provide financial support and create opportunities for career growth within the security field.

  • Continuing our Bursary Program in British Columbia
  • Through our partnership with the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), we continue to offer bursaries to Indigenous security guards in British Columbia. This program is designed to support the professional development of Indigenous individuals and enhance their representation within the industry.

  • Providing Security Services at the Winnipeg Millennium Public Library
  • Understanding the importance of cultural representation and community engagement, we ensure that at least 50% of our security guards at the Winnipeg Millennium Public Library are Indigenous. Located in a predominantly Indigenous area, this initiative helps create a more inclusive and culturally sensitive environment for the community.

    Building a More Inclusive Future

At Blackbird Security, we are dedicated to making the security industry more inclusive and reflective of the diverse communities we serve. Our efforts to support Indigenous communities and promote Reconciliation are part of our broader commitment to social impact and corporate responsibility.

By taking these meaningful actions, we hope to contribute to a better future where diversity and inclusion are at the forefront of the security industry. Together, we are building stronger, safer, and more united communities.
