Blackbird Security Participates in Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women in Support of Women’s Mental Health
This past May, a few team members from our Vancouver office participated in the Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women in Vancouver.
The Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women is a 5km and 10km run/walk event dedicated to raising funds in support of women’s mental health. At this event, our team joined the Vancouver community and walked 5km to show our support for women’s mental health and one of our most important partners, Shoppers Drug Mart.
Recent studies by Mental Health Research Canada highlights the ongoing challenges women face regarding mental health. Women report higher levels of anxiety (16%) and depression (17%) compared to the general population. While women are more likely to access mental health services than men, racialized and marginalized groups often report lower satisfaction with the care they receive. To further compound these challenges, 71% of women say that economic factors such as inflation and the rising cost of living are negatively impacting their mental health, creating additional barriers to accessing the care they need.
Here at Blackbird Security, we are committed to improving the communities we serve, and that includes helping to improve access to mental health care and support for women. We are proud to support a meaningful cause like the Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women, which aims to make access to women’s mental health more widespread.
