Q: Does a security system lower home insurance in B.C.?

Many insurers credit 5–15% for a professionally monitored, ULC-listed system — more if fire and leak sensors are included. DIY sirens usually do not qualify. Ask your broker; we can send a monitoring certificate.

Q: Do cities charge for false alarms?

Yes, in many places. Vancouver requires an annual alarm permit. Surrey bills per police false alarm. Burnaby charges from the third. Kelowna requires a two-year permit. Verified monitoring cuts nuisance dispatches.
